Integrative Psychotherapy & Hypno-psychotherapy

I provide individually tailored psychotherapy for adults experiencing anxiety, panic, trauma, dissociation, depersonalisation, depression and other forms of psychological and emotional distress.

My approach is integrative and trauma-informed, bringing together psychotherapeutic understanding, hypnotherapy and experiential approaches according to your individual needs.

Therapy is not based around applying a predetermined technique or protocol. Together, we develop an understanding of what you are experiencing, what may be contributing to or maintaining the difficulty, and how we can work towards meaningful psychological change.

Areas of Specialist Practice

While every person's experience is individual, there are several areas of psychological difficulty that form a particular focus within my clinical practice.

Anxiety & Panic

Anxiety can become deeply disruptive when the mind and nervous system remain caught in patterns of threat, anticipation or hypervigilance. Therapy can help us understand not only the symptoms of anxiety or panic, but the experiences and psychological processes that may be contributing to them.

Trauma

Experiences do not need to fit a single definition of trauma to continue affecting us. Trauma-informed psychotherapy can provide a safe and carefully paced way of understanding how past experiences may be influencing emotions, relationships, bodily responses and patterns of protection in the present.

Dissociation & Depersonalisation

Dissociation and depersonalisation can be particularly frightening and difficult to explain. I work with these experiences within a broader understanding of psychological safety, overwhelm, trauma, anxiety and the ways the mind may protect itself when experience becomes difficult to process.

Depression & Emotional Distress

Depression does not always present simply as sadness. It may involve disconnection, loss of meaning, emotional numbness, exhaustion, self-criticism or a sense that something internally has become difficult to understand or change.

Other Areas I Can Help With

I also work with a range of difficulties in which psychological, emotional and behavioural patterns may benefit from integrative psychotherapeutic or hypnotherapeutic work.

Stress | Phobias | Insomnia

How therapy is shaped around you.

No two people arrive in therapy with exactly the same history, psychological processes or needs. For that reason, I do not work from a single therapeutic protocol.

Our work begins by developing an understanding of what you are experiencing and what may be underlying or maintaining the difficulty.

Depending upon your needs, therapy may draw upon psychotherapeutic exploration, trauma-informed approaches, hypnotherapy and other experiential ways of working.

The approach develops collaboratively and can change as our understanding of your experience develops.

What Therapy May Involve

Understanding

Developing a clearer understanding of your experiences, patterns, emotional responses and the context in which they developed.

Regulation

Developing greater capacity to remain present with difficult thoughts, emotions and bodily experiences without becoming overwhelmed by them.

Processing

Where appropriate, carefully working with experiences or emotional material that may continue to influence how you feel and respond in the present.

Integration

Bringing new understanding and experience together so that different responses, choices and ways of relating to yourself can become increasingly available.

Beginning Therapy

Choosing to begin therapy is a personal decision. An initial confidential consultation provides an opportunity for us to briefly discuss what has brought you to therapy, what you are hoping for from the process and whether working together feels appropriate.

There is no obligation to proceed.
